What Makes a Goose Down Jacket Unique

The advantages of a goose down jacket stem from the nature of its filling. Down has excellent insulating capabilities while offering remarkable breathability when paired with the right outer and lining materials.

What truly makes goose down exceptional is its ability to regulate both temperature and moisture. Down jackets allow excess heat and moisture built by sweating to escape and, in turn, retain warmth and offer comfort during physically demanding treks. The breathability of down prevents overheating, guaranteeing great performance and temperature regulation even in the most challenging conditions.

Furthermore, the light weight and compressibility of down make it incredibly versatile and practical, letting us save space and reduce the weight of our backpacks while travelling

Winter Hiking Jacket - When Less is More

A down hiking jacket is designed primarily with breathability and water protection in mind. It is optimal for low- to mid-altitude treks as well as everyday use across the seasons when there’s a chill in the air.

Contrary to down mountaineering jackets, hiking ones can afford to be more fashionable, sporting a broader colour palette, as well as offering additional comfort-of-life solutions such as unzippable hoods and sleeves to better adapt to weather changes.

Mountaineering Jacket - Robust Cold Protection

A mountaineering puffer jacket is designed specifically to endure the demanding, harsh conditions found at higher altitudes. It is far bulkier than a hiking jacket and comes in bold colours which guarantee you will remain visible during high mountain adventures.

The key features of a mountain puffer jacket that set it apart from its hiking counterpart include a high collar to better protect the neck area, as well as easily accessible, spacious front pockets and a hood large enough to fit protective headgear.

Warm Hiking Jackets - Comfort and Style

With its bold colours and characteristic baffles, a PAJAK down outdoor jacket is as much a necessary piece of wardrobe to keep warm on cold days as it is a fashion statement. It lends itself to appearing sporty and adventurous while remaining snug and warm.

Aside from classic designs, our space-suit-inspired CO_LAB series and LYNX down jacket line with various lynx prints offer a truly unique look, bound to make you stand out both on the trail and in the streets.

Winter Down Jacket - Key Parameters

While choosing a mountain jacket, it is important to pay attention to the filling power, or FP parameter. Fill power is measured in cuins, meaning cubic inches. It denotes the volume to which down expands while lofted. It translates directly into the insulating properties of the mountaineering jacket, with higher values indicating greater insulation. Higher FP scores are recommended for the harsher colds of winter, while lower ones are optimal for mountain adventures in warmer months.

Another feature worth noting is the Durable Water Repellent (DWR outer material used in the majority of our jackets. If a product bears this specification, it means that the outer layer is made from water-resistant material, which will prevent the down filling from sogging and, in consequence, losing its insulating properties. While DWR jackets shouldn’t be treated as raincoats, they’ll ensure we stay warm during snowfall or when a shower or drizzle comes our way.
