In the mountains, there’s no room for chance—every decision you make can impact your safety. An icy wall ahead, an abyss behind—this is no time to search for gear or dig through your backpack. You know exactly where your ice axe is. You reach for it in one smooth motion, without removing your pack. You feel relief.
Because there’s no room for mistakes
The HD3 was designed for those who move in a vertical world and can’t afford unnecessary movements. For those who count every gram, every motion, and every second. Its construction enables swift action, allowing you to focus solely on your goal. The hip belt features a gear loop and a spacious pocket for small yet essential accessories like an energy gel, compass, or phone. The attachment system for two ice axes lets you access them without taking off your pack. We’ve also included daisy chains for easily clipping carabiners and slings. Durable haul loops allow you to secure your pack in difficult terrain, pull it through narrow rock passages, or use it as an additional anchor point when extra support is needed.
Because safety comes first
Avalanche safety gear can’t be buried at the bottom of your pack. A detachable avalanche safety pocket ensures immediate access to your shovel and probe. Two main compartment openings—a roll-top closure and a back panel entry—allow you to grab essential gear quickly without unpacking everything. For added security, we’ve equipped the HD3 with a Recco system, which reflects a rescue signal to help search teams locate you faster, even under the snow. It requires no batteries or activation.
Because stability means confidence
No matter how much gear you pack or how you arrange it, the HD3 remains stable—it won’t sway, tilt, or shift its center of gravity, even in challenging terrain. Side compression straps with metal buckles allow you to adjust the pack’s volume, keeping your load secure and preventing unwanted movement. The pack is designed to keep the weight close to your body, giving you better control and unrestricted movement. The hip belt can be removed when you need greater mobility, such as during a climb or a fast ascent. But for long treks with a heavy load, it helps distribute the weight more evenly, reducing strain on your back and shoulders.
